Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at fountain in front of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.

Time

This was at dusk as the sun was setting.

Lighting

I wanted to freeze the motion with a high frame rate. The sunset through the water made for a perfect opportunity to do so. After I had edited the photo, it struck me that the jets of water looked like a forest.

Equipment

I used my old reliable 80-200mm Nikon 2.8 on a Nikon D750. Shutter was a 1/4000.

Inspiration

My city is dubbed the city of fountains. What better way to capture it than zooming around downtown and grabbing some photos to show it off.

Editing

I only lightly edit in post. I really try to capture everything in camera as best as I can.

In my camera bag

I always carry 80-200mm, 50mm, and a micro of some sort. That gives me a pretty good range. I always carry off camera flash and a tripod.

Feedback

This was like the 25th I tried to capture of the fountains. My advice is shoot, shoot, shoot. You will persevere if you just try.
