Location
This photo was taken on an impromptu trip to Moab, Utah, with some buddies. This was early on in my photography career, as I am self taught photographer.Time
The photo was taken in the morning, just before noon.Lighting
Many great photos are taken around sunrise and sunset. This shot was taken just before mid-day, before the harsh light of the sun washed out the colors. Sometimes working with ample light makes for interesting photos, as all the intricate details are visible.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3300 with the 18-55mm kit lens--shot hand-held.Inspiration
I thought shooting through the arch to show the mountains and rugged rock formations in the back was the best way to illustrate Moab's unique landscape. This is one of my favorite photos.Editing
I did minor color adjustments in Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
I typically travel with one or two lenses. I've recently switched to a Sony A7R II, and have fallen in love with my 35mm 2.8 lens. I also carry a tri-pod, camera cleaner, and my DJI Spark drone.Feedback
I would advise being patient when shooting popular tourist attractions. You will likely have to shoot between people walking around. The best times to shoot popular locations is early mornings or late nights after most tourists have left.
