Location
I took this photo in my spare room in our house. I have all my photography gear there, so that is basically my go-to location for photography projects.Time
Late afternoon early evening. The time of the day really doesn't affect this type of indoor portraiture as far as available light required.Lighting
I used 2 softboxes with speedlights inside them. One at each side of the model (me), one at a 45-degree angle and the other at around a 60-degree angle. That's how I get the slight shadows on my face. Used a remote trigger for my Nikon.Equipment
Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-105 mm f/35.-5.6 lens, remote trigger, 2 Softboxes with a Nikon SB700 and a Nikon SB900 for speedlights, tripod for my camera.Inspiration
I wanted to take a photo of a dark suffering and pain but at the same time a bit mystical and fantasy-like ... kinda vampire-Lycan (Underworld) related.Editing
Oh yes... the image was pushed into Lightroom and the contrast and brightness were increased, along with the clarity and the saturation (on the reds). Details enhancement a bit of noise reduction.... darkened the blacks. A bit of cropping and a bit of structure and dehaze. In my camera bag
My Nikon D90, my 50mm lens, speedlights (SB900, SB700, and SB600), remote trigger, intervalometer, battery backup, sd cards, lens cleaners, a quarter, tethering cable. I think that covers most of it.Feedback
Practice practice practice, change your perspectives and angles (even if you are not sure it will work). Try different post-editing ideas and if the result doesn't clearly work for that specific topic, it might work for other topics if you open your mind and think a little differently.
