Just because this is an image that looks like the works of Misha Gordin, I will vote for it

This reminds me of the work of Jerry Ulesmann, I know he did this style with film, whereas this looks a little more digital. Powerful message, congrats!

Location
I took this photo in my living room, with a white backdrop as my background. Sitting on the floor with the aid of 2 speedlights, camera front at a 45 degree angle towards me.Time
It was in the evening if I recall correctly. Most of my portraits are done in the evenings after work or on the weekends.Lighting
Yes. I used 2 soft boxes which contained 1 speedlight each. Both were camera front at about a 45 degree angle. One is an SB-900 and the other an SB-700, used the TTL system from Nikon and the pop-up flash on my D90 to trigger them. A bit of fill light from the pop up flash and the softboxes were 2 - 3 feet away from my body.Equipment
Nikon D90 Nikkor 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 SB-900 SB-700 Softboxes Remote triggerInspiration
The inspiration of this photo came by the trials and tribulations that we all go through in life. We all experience different circumstances and some of them take a lot out of you. Although you sometimes you feel you are protected and prepared as represented by the umbrella and wearing a suit, sometimes our idea of prepared is nothing compared to what life has ready for you, represented by the fist coming down on you in a deserted place with no one to help.Editing
Oh there is some post processing. The black and white treatment to start off. The rain was also added in Photoshop as well as the fist. The fist was an isolated photo of my own fist shot only because of the idea I had on creating this image. Some layers and adding the background to blend it all in and provide a vision of depth, loneliness and distress. In my camera bag
I normally carry my D90 obviously, lens cleaner cloth, my 50mm nikkor lens, extra SD Cards, extra batteries, filters, 18-105mm lens, small mini tripod, battery charger, remote trigger, intervalometer and sometimes a book.Feedback
My first advice is always patience and practice. Sometimes it is hard to project your vision onto your photo, but you have to keep trying. Also at times, it is very important to change the perspective, angle, lens, POV, lighting and wardrobe of your shoot. Sometimes that small little change will provide the solution you want or steer you in a complete different direction that will help you create another work of art you didnt even had in mind.
