Behind The Lens

Location

My most favorite subject in the world to photograph are hummingbirds. This photo was taken in my backyard. No special set up other than tons of feeders and sticks for my birds to perch on. The black background in this was achieved by shooting toward two pine trees which are off set and create a dark shadow between them.

Time

As you can see this was shoot later in the day due to the lower shutter speed. (wings a bit blurry) It was taken near dusk.

Lighting

Open sunlight (background in shade)

Equipment

Sony A7 (this is a pretty old photo)

Inspiration

Photographing hummingbirds are rewarding, challenging and relaxing. There is nothing more beautiful!

Editing

Shot in Raw and added noise reduction.

In my camera bag

Since this photo was taken I have currently switched to Canon. In my bag: 1DX, 5DMarkIV, R and now R5. Canon 85 1.4, 35 1.2, 200f2, 300f2.8 and a few others. These are my go to lenses though.
