Location
This shot was taken at a sea cliff, called Cruz dos Remédios at Peniche, Portugal.Time
This was somewhat unexpected. As Peniche is near Lisbon, this image was taken around 6 p.m. on a winter afternoon at sunset, after a day trip to Peniche, just about preparing myself to return to Lisbon.Lighting
The clouds and the sunset provided the right mixture of light, shadow and warm colors.Equipment
This shot was made on a Canon 7D MKII, with a Samyang 16mm f2, also known as Rokinon. As this is a long exposure, with 6 stop ND filter, I have to use a tripod.Inspiration
The site with the lonely christian cross at the edge of the cliff protecting all the fisherman that goes into the sea and the light, was my drive to take this photo.Editing
This shot is a long exposure, with a 6 stop ND filter. Unfortunately and I should know better, I was not fully equipped, so I didn't have with me a GND filter, only the 6 stop ND filter, so I had to expose to the sky and compensate the shadows with post-processing on Lightroom. In my camera bag
Usually I carry Canon 7D MKII and my walk around Canon EF-S 15-85mm, the 50mm f1.8 for some portraits and creativity, and the Samyang 16mm f2 for landscape and astrophotography.Feedback
First of all, if you have it, take it with you, do not leave any gear at home, you will regret! If you like landscape photography, long exposures, get some ND and GND filters, they are lot of fun, and they do allow you to take great new images of the same and already known places! :) I have only used a 6 stop ND filter, but the result could be even more interesting if I had with me the 3 stop GND filter to stack on top of the ND filter. A tripod is must have for long exposures. Search for water and clouds, they add a lot of interest to your long exposures.
