It is. Waterton Lakes National Park is my favourite place to be. My heart is always so full when I am there.

Love this picture. I can see myself panning for gold in that stream. Just a dream scene. I would love to be able draw this scene. Just an awesome shot. 😊

Thank you very much!! I appreciate your comments. This area was extensivelly burned by the Kenow Fire that started in the last half of August 2017. We were finally able to see it in Sept 2021 - there is still beauty there, but instead of the lush green trees, there are black ghosts of what had been. Feel free to draw this scene. I would feel honoured if you did.

Location
I photographed this at Red Rock Canyon in the beautiful Waterton Lakes National Park located in the far southwest corner of Alberta.)Time
I photographed this at 10:22AM CST (2014 June 27).Lighting
The day was sunny with some clouds. It was later in the morning, but when you are vacation, you cannot always wait for optimum conditions to photography the beautiful scenery, etc. you are seeing.Equipment
I was shooting with my trusty old Nikon D200 and a Nikon 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 28mm Aperture Priority f/5 1/1000 ISO 400 White Balance set at "Auto" - 0 step Pattern Metering. Handheld. This lens I was shooting with is my old kit lens from my first SLR - Nikon F80.Inspiration
The raw, natural beauty with the many natural and vibrant colours of Red Rock Canyon were my inspirations for shooting this particular photograph. Just being in the beautiful Waterton Lakes National Park is my biggest inspiration for taking photographs. Waterton and all its beauty have such a grip on my heart, my spirit and my mind... I fell in love with Waterton the very first time we went there on a family vacation in 1994, and that love for this beautiful place grows with every visit.Editing
This photograph is right out of the camera, shot in JPEG format. I did not do any post-processing.In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D200 and D5100 cameras in my bag along with my Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR lens and my Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD lens. Since June 2017, I am now the happy owner of a Nikon D750 and a bigger zoom (Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS - appropriately named "Moose") to haul around on my outings. I still have a huge learning curve to work on with this most recent camera purchase. I need a bigger camera bag (and maybe a caddy to help me carry this. It's heavy!!)Feedback
My advice for others is to always have your camera(s) with you, and use your camera(s) at every opportunity. Get out and shoot as often as you can. When you are on vacation, set aside some 'camera time' to work on capturing the beauty around you. Look for something interesting and take several photos of it at different angles and perspectives. Take advantage of the natural lighting when it is cloudy and play with your f stops and white balance. Take more than one photo ... you can always delete them if they don't turn out. You can also set your camera to help with that by setting it to bracket. This shot was done using bracketing (I chose what I considered the best of the three shots in the bracket -- in this case it was the the one at 0 step... the -1 step was a little under exposed and the +1 step was over exposed.)
