Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my photography studio in Washington DC.

Time

We decided to do the shoot around 10 AM because of the way the sunlight poured into the venue at that time

Lighting

This shot was 100% natural light I used an inexpensive fog maker to slightly fog the room in the area where the sun was shining through the window. This created a wonderful misst/smoke like affect

Equipment

Laughing out loud I actually took that photograph with my first camera Canon rebel

Inspiration

The subject is a world famous yoga teacher Who used to be a break dancer. He flew in from Puerto Rico to do the shoot with me.

Editing

The post processing on this photograph was very minimal I do my best to try to shoot in camera exactly the way I’d like the photo to look Some photographers add the fog in post production but to me it looks artificial. In this particular photo the fog whips around his body and that’s something that would be very difficult to re-create in post action

Do your homework find out what time of day the sun works best for the location that you will be shooting in If you haven’t worked with harsh direct sunlight I would do some practicing to get it perfect
