Silhouette Island, Seychelles
During my stay on Silhouette Island I experienced many amazing dawns and dusks, with dramatic cloudscapes and beautiful colors. But just days before, the island had had weeks of heavy rain and grey skies! The day I arrived seemed to be the last of it, as it poured down during my check-in.
What remained was dramatic clouds that built up to deliver no rain, but beautiful shades, tones and shapes instead. The last day of my stay had almost no clouds.
This dawn was at first dark and seemingly going to become a wet one, but as the light of the approaching sun increased, the clouds dispersed.
During my time at this location, I encountered several crabs emerging from the sea as I had become part of the stationary landscape of boulders, rocks and forest. One move and they would jump into the ocean again. This is a long exposure, yet the crab in the picture is as sharp as the rocks, as they definitely know how to keep still!
During high tide this location would be under water, and I would not have had such an amazing seascape to capture.
In the back you see the largest of the Seychelles islands – Mahe.
