To my mind this shares an oriental tradition of composition. My main subject, the water flowing past a rock, is almost obscured by the arbutus branch which enters the frame from above. This image is quite flat in its reflecting surface and yet very graphic brush stroke in the branch. It is a weird composition but very satisfying. In a world of millions of look alike images this stands out and yet it works very well.
