Location
This photo was taken from the roadside in Furore along the Amalfi Coast in Italy. We had a local guide drive us from Positano, where we were staying, down to Minore and back. He knew all the best places to stop along they way. I was so excited to see this spot with the colorful boats at low tide. I also have a much wider angle version of this shot with the amazing Amalfi Coast cliffs as the background.Time
This is around Noontime, on our way down the Amalfi Coast.Lighting
As you can see, due to the time of day and position of the sun, the boats are mostly in shadow. I like the effect and have learned to appreciate the conditions as they present themselves rather than wishing for the “perfect shot”.Equipment
Nikon D7000, handheldInspiration
The Amalfi Coast is about as inspirational as it gets for a landscape photographer. Italy is a magnificent country, rich in natural beauty and majestic landscapes.Editing
I had just purchase Adobe Lightroom and didn’t really know how to use it when this photo was taken. So, no editing on this one!In my camera bag
Nikon D7000, prime lens, 18-100 lens, cleaners, etc.Feedback
We pulled off the winding coastal road that hugs the Amalfi coastline and looked out over the ocean. The spot we stopped in, in Furore, has a famous bridge from which people cliff dive. I’ve learned over the years to look around me - especially behind me - whenever shooting. That is often where the most interesting and unique shots can be found. And, when I turned around from the ocean, I found myself staring right at the Amalfi Coast cliffs. When we looked down from our perch, we saw these boats at low tide.
