To me it is telling of the decline of the giraffe. It is GREAT when a photo tells another a story, even if each sees a different one. Great job.

Is that a real giraffe in the middle of the road? Where did it come from ? This sure doesn't look Africa. Amazing SHOT ?

Behind The Lens

Location

Out in the farm lands of Michigan

Time

It was early morning around 8am

Lighting

The lighting was early morning sun on the main photo of the road. The clouds, moon, giraffe and bird are all lit from the same direction for continunity of l;ight direction

Equipment

Nikon D800. 15mm zeiss on the road shot, Giraffe was a 70-200 nikon zoom, the coulds were 50mm zeiss, the sea gull was a 70-200 Nikon Zoom, and the moon was a nikon 300

Inspiration

the original country road was waiting to be photographed and I kept it in my library. One day while being creative I could see the giraffe and clouds in the photo. Later I added the moon and seagull. I sometimes work on fine art photos like this for days, weeks or even months until I have a finished product I like.

Editing

all of the images are color and digital. I processed them in photoshop looking for the 10 zones in the zone system as I did with film in my early days of film photography. I then had the clouds I shot from the beach in Saint Petersburg and cut them to be pasted into the sky. The giraffe was from Busch Gardens and the seagull from clearwater beach. The moon was obviously full and on a clear night. I manipulated them all togther in photoshop to become one image with a timely process and the final image was country road 51 and play off of area 51
