Just getting to the spot where I could take this picture was an adventure! As I was taking the shot, I had one hand on another tree for balance, i was standing on a large rock, because all around me was poisen oak! But I wanted this shot, and I got it, I had to perform a few twister manuvers to get out of the poisen oak patch.Time
This was one of the first hikes I had taken at this particular park, so it wasn't planned or anything, I just always bring my camera, just in case. The shot was around 10:30 in the morning, it was overcast, and I liked the filtered light behind the tree.Lighting
Well I liked the filtered light that was going on behind this beautiful tree, it added ambiance if you will!Equipment
I used my lightweight Nikon Coolpix P510 as it has a decent zoom and no need to change lenses. It's my everyday camera.Inspiration
Oh, well I am a tree lover to begin with, and this park was full of real beauties. So as I was hiking, this tree caught my attention because of the lighting and her smaller size. She was noo more than 15 feet high, and because of the layout of the area, I couldn't get the entire tree in a single shot, so I got closer, and made her look bigger than she really is.Editing
I did my post production in photoshop elements, which is like the jr. varsity version of photoshop. I was doing my usual routine, then was inspired to use colored layers and filters, to try to make the color pop more. As I got to this point (the final product) I squeeled like a kid, and slowly backed away from the computer, so as not to screw it up! It was just so....IDK wow! Golden Oak has won me multiple awards over the years. In my camera bag
Well I tend to stay light as I have to hike to get to most place I like to shoot at. So I do not bring lenses with me at all. I use my everyday camera, the Nikon coolpix P510, it has a good range for a single lens camera, and a good zoom 42x.Feedback
I would just be thorough in your post production process, see what the image looks like in black and white, or sepia, add color yourself. See what your filters do, all of them! You never know until you try it, and just like me it can suprise you, and give you a winner!
