Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in South Africa between a town called Witbank and the City of Pretoria. I am an avid photographer and forever looking for those amazing moments. Well I believe this was one of them and while I was on my way home from work I managed to snap this shot. Unfortunately I did not have my normal kit on me and was unable to stop on the highway.

Time

This was taken late afternoon.

Lighting

Just good old fashioned natural light. I was driving at the time so had to totally rely on mother nature

Equipment

iPhone 5 :-) All my normal equipment had stayed at home that day as the construction site I was visiting would not allow any photographic equipment to be brought on to site.

Inspiration

I have never seen a cloud formation like that, absolutely awesome. It kind of reminded me of my younger surfing days just before the wave would come crashing down around you.

Editing

No post processing was carried out - what you see is exactly a part of what I saw

In my camera bag

My bag is normally stocked with my trusty Nikon D810, Nikon D5400 as a backup, Tamron 24-70 and my trusty Niko 50mm.

Feedback

Look at the world from every conceivable angle. When travelling forward look back, look to your left and right and look up. You will be amazed what you have been missing. I was recently up in Ghana and noticed that thousands of fruit bats journey out to feed at a particular time of the day and asked one of the locals about it. He was mildly surprised that the bats were still about and commented "oh wow, I don't normally look up"
