Location
This image was taken at the Muskoka Wildlife Centre outside of Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Sadly the Muskoka Widlife Centre is now closed but when it was open, the centre did a lot of rehabilitation and conservancy work with animals and birds of prey injured in the wild. This lynx could not be released into the wild again and became a permanent resident at the centre until it closed.Time
This image was shot at approximately 10:00 in the morning on a snowy and overcast day.Lighting
Despite the day being snowy and overcast, the light was actually quite good and not flat as one would expect on that kind of day.Equipment
This image was shot with a Nikon D300 (still love that camera!) and a Nikkor 70-300mm lens. I did not use a tripod, flash or any other aides.Inspiration
We had arranged a shoot at the Widlife Centre that day, in particular, to photograph the wolves. After we has spent time with the wolves, we moved to the lynx enclosure which was quite large providing the cat with plenty of room to move about freely. This particular had run around a great deal and it was difficult to get a decent image at first. After all the running around, she was tuckered out and decided to rest under a tree. Lucky for us and a long enough lens ..... we were able to get a few shots while she rested and before she moved off again.Editing
I did very little post processing. I bumped up the clarity, vibrance and saturation in photoshop and added a very subtle vignette. In my camera bag
These day I generally travel with 3 camera bodies: Nikon D750, Nikon D810 and a Nikon D500. I generally carry a couple zoom lens: Nikkor 28-300, Nikkor 18-300, Nikkor 70-300 and a Nikkor 24-120. I carry polarizer filters for very bright sunny days.Feedback
Patience ....patience.....patience! Great things come to those that wait!!!! Take plenty of images ..... you can always delete afterwards!!!!
