Location
I took the photo at the Goodwood Revival, this is an event at the Goodwood motor racing circuit near Chichester in the UK. The event is based around the 1940's,50's and 60's, so all spectators as well as the race teams that race their classic cars are encouraged to dress in period.Time
I believe it was around Midday, as I was in a queue for lunch when I spotted this guy, a stranger in the crowd and for some reson he stod out.Lighting
Not really, it was midday so lots of light but otherwise very none interesting light. It was a mix of cloud and sunshine that weekend.Equipment
I used my Canon 7D mk 11 at the time with my 70-200 f.2.8 canon lens, hand held at the time, I gave him a nod to say is it ok to take the photo and as quick as I took the photo,he was gone.Inspiration
His beard, I like interesting faces, i'm not a portrait photographer, far from it, but a do seem to be able to spot an interesting face.Editing
I always do post processing, the picture was taken in colour but I believe that mono is right for this picture. I used camera raw and lightened the background slightly to make the subject the focal point. In my camera bag
Alot, as Im mainly a motorsport photographer I do carry a lot of equipment...normally to the detriment of my bad back. I carry a Canon 1dx mk11 with 2 spare batteries, with lenses 150-600 sigma sport and 70-200 canon lens. A mono pod and a tripod, a Canon 7D mk11 with 3 spare batteries, 28-70 F2.8 Canon lens, Sigma 10-20 wide angle lens, spare memory cards, a Apple laptop and a small tool kit and some torches for when its dark to highlight the odd long exposure photos. I do use a trolley that I can stand on thats handy to get over the top of crowds. I also have a fold down step ladder that I use when I go to Lemans in France for the 24 hour endurance race, as I will take pictures over walls and fences as well as up trees to gain a new persective.Feedback
Eyes open and camera ready at all times, some people say this is luck, but if your always looking and ready then perhaps your making your own luck.
