Great shot. A sad fate for Jimmy Leeward, but beautiful picture of this plane.

Taken with a Calumet/Cambo 4x5 view camera with a 150 mm Fujinon W Lens.Inspiration
I was working on a series on Vintage Aircraft and heard that you could drive out on the flight line the day after the Reno air races so that's what I did. I was kind of working down the flight line when this aircraft was started up prior to its departure. It was a simple matter to set my camera up in front of it and do this shot. I deliberately cropped the the spinning propeller closely as I thought that that would make a more dramatic image. Yes you could feel its sucking me towards the propeller.Editing
This was shot on 4x5 Tri-x, processed in FG7. The negative was scanned and the scan processed in Photoshop using my own custom contrast curves. In my camera bag
At the time I had six lenses from 90 mm to 450 mm, plus a one degree spot meter for exposure by the Zone System. Tripod, film holders, dark cloth, bag bellows, etc. rounded out my kit. Bag? I had my view camera case.Feedback
Be there.
