It was precisely here on June 25, 1876 a massive battle was fought between the Sioux Native Americans (Lakota, Cheyenne, etc) and the US Cavalry led by General Custer. Over a hundred years later, the remnants of the battle are all but lost to us except for the national military park which honors the fallen from both sides of the conflict. One of the worst days in American military history, this site is a solemn and sacred place, but deceivingly and hauntingly beautiful at the same time.
