Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken on Galveston Island, near the industrial area which has several railroad tracks. On an unused section of one of the tracks, these old rail cars have been sitting for quite some time as of the picture,

Time

Picture was taken in the afternoon, sunny day during the summer months.

Lighting

It was sunny, but as you can see plenty of clouds.

Equipment

Nikon D7100. Lens was Nikon's 18-55 mm, shot at 18mm.

Inspiration

I had seen these set of abandon rail cars for some time while passing by the area. I always wanted to shoot them and thankfully I finally did one afternoon.

Editing

Lots of post-processing. It was a color photo to begin with. Then using a few different software programs, I tweaked it for the dramatic contrast effect I was going for with the clouds and rail cars.

In my camera bag

These daysI always have my Nikon D7100, with a 18-55 mm and 55-300mm lens. I usually carry my GoPro as well.

Feedback

It simply happened to be there for the shooting. You just have to take the time and shot as many photos as possible. I've found you just can't shoot enough. Many don't work, but there usually is a few that just jump out at you later on and made it all worth it.
