Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo during a family trip to the New Forest Wildlife Park.Time
It was early afternoon (13:17 on the 25th of May). The wolves were out of sight when we first arrived, but after a short wait they appeared from behind one of the hills within the enclosure. I took several shots of of them interacting through the fence, then I took a seat on the nearby bench which gave me a clear view of the platform framed between two of the fence posts. The wolf then came and lay down on the platform, and I was lucky enough to take this shot with the last of the power on my battery.Lighting
No.Equipment
I used a Nikon P900, handheld, and took advantage of its zoom to get a good close-up whilst staying far enough away from the fence for the camera to focus through it.Inspiration
When we planned the day out, I was hoping to get some good shots of the wolves. I'd been to the Cotswold Wildlife Park the year before, but struggled to get a good shot due to the viewing platform there so wanted a second attempt at getting a good photo.Editing
I used photoshop's auto tone and auto contrast, then I applied the shake reduction filter. After that, I cropped the sides of the image to remove all but the very edges of the fence posts. In my camera bag
Just my Nikon P900, a lens pen, spare battery, and cleaning cloth.Feedback
When trying to take pictures of wildlife, the most important thing you need is patience. Also, try to find somewhere where you'll get a good angle but won't be in other people's way and where you'll (hopefully) not have people wandering in front of you at the crucial moment. Once you've picked your spot, it's then a case of waiting for the right moment to take the shot.
