This American Pride river boat was docked next to the Oregon Maritime Museum, which we were visiting in Astoria OR. American Pride is an overnight riverboat owned and operated by American Cruise Lines. The vessel operates on the Columbia and Snake rivers as of the 2016 season. She was formerly known as Queen of the Mississippi from 2012-2015 and operated on the Mississippi River System. She was built in 2012 by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland for overnight river cruising within the continental United States. The vessel accommodates 150 passengers in her 77 staterooms. Of these, 65 have private balconies. All have private baths, windows, Wi-Fi, and interior entrances. The American Pride is a sister ship to the current Queen of the Mississippi which was formerly known as the American Eagle.

This is a beautiful riverboat and the ship was bathed in a soft light that made it stand out from the clouds behind it.Editing
Processed in Capture NX-D and PSCS6 Extended using Picture Postcard Workflow. Picture Postcard Workflow is a free plug-in to Photoshop that uses multistep actions of hundreds of steps to process an image. Many of the steps occur in LAB space that allows you to bring out the very best in the saturated colors and also can enhance clouds. It also has a multi-step sharpening tool that applies 3 types of sharpening. This tool would not be possible without modern PCs with fast processing as it would be too time-consuming to apply those steps manually. With PPW you can process an image from start to finish in 5 to 10 minutes. Each part of the process can be modified or even skipped depending on what you start with.In my camera bag
I no longer have a DSLR. I moved to a Nikon Z7 mirrorless camera 3 years ago. It is smaller and lighter than my D810. I sold most of my Nikon lenses except for a few that I still use with the Z7 using an adapter, and replaced the rest with Z lenses. So in my bag, I always have the Z7 and the Z version of the 24-120 f/4 S lens. What else I carry will depend on where I am going and what I intend to shoot. But often it includes my 14-30 f/4 Z lens which is an outstanding wide angle great for landscapes. If I plan to shoot macros, I will take my Z macro lens. For wildlife, it is either my 70-200 f/2.8 Z lens and 2x TC or my 300 mm f/4 PF lens with Z adapter and non-Z TCs. I try to avoid hauling it all unless I am on a road trip. If so I will also take my tripod.Feedback
Lighting and time of day can be very important in what type of image you create. In this image, lighting was key as there were no deep shadows. I mostly shoot in manual mode with Auto ISO so I can select the aperture and shutter speed to my liking. It is also important to fill the screen while trying to eliminate distracting details. Include people for scale if you can.
