Location
This monument stands in one of the largest park's in Madrid's downtown. The gardens of Buen Retiro Park are incredible and will peak the interest of any visitor.Time
We arrived in this massive park around 7:00 pm after the evening close of the very famous Prado Museum nearby. We were hoping to catch a sunset over the lake in the middle of the park.Lighting
Walking through the park and arriving at the monument to Alfonzo XII my jaw hit the ground as I was searching for something worth capturing. When seeing the monument the evening rays of sun were penetrating the roman monument through the columns giving amazing highlights and shadows. Thankfully, we walked through at the right time to experience this fascinating natural lighting.Equipment

The lighting present at this location caused me to stop and capture the moment.Editing

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is shoot at different times of the day. We eat at different times of the day so why not shoot at different times of the day. The most important lighting to me is during the morning and evenings just about an hour before and after both sunrise and sunset. The lighting you get here can transform even the most ordinary of subjects but when mixing great lighting with incredible locations you get extraordinary captures! Happy shooting. I would love for you to comment on your favorite time of day to shoot.
