Behind The Lens

Location

We live close to the beach, so it's just a fifteen minute walk with the dogs to catch any potential sunsets (if I get home from work at the right time).

Time

Sunset this time of year was about 5:30pm, so didn't have long to wait by the time we got there.

Lighting

Just used the natural lighting.

Equipment

My camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35.

Inspiration

Who doesn't love a good sunset when conditions are right. The addition of the pool for reflection of the sky and the motion of the ripples really appealed to me. Then, with the person walking into shot - it just capped it all off.

Editing

Only needed to adjust the brightness, to bring up the highlights of the reflections on the sand and keep enough contrast in the ripples.

In my camera bag

Besides spare batteries, I only carry a couple of filters (UV & CPL - have just bought a few cheap ND filters to play around with) though I didn't use any with this shot.

Feedback

The window of opportunity is fairly narrow for sunset shots while the sun is close to the horizon, so I had gotten into position early and watched and waited. I took plenty of photos hoping for this sort of chance.
