Location
I took this photo walking home, across town through the theater district in NYC after an outing with one of the photo groups I belong to, The Long Island Sun Chasers.Time
This shot was taken about 7:30 p.m. in late June. I walked by and saw this performer taking a break by the stage door and stopped backed up and shot the moment! It was approaching golden hour and the strong sunlight created a flare and I liked the drama best converted to black and white.Lighting
Very bright late day summer sunlight in a narrow crowed side street in Manhattan.Equipment
Canon SX520HS hand held.Inspiration
I loved the contrast between the painted shadow on the stage door and the causal pose of the performer on the steps.Editing
Basically converted from a color shot to black & white. In my camera bag
I always carry a lens cleaning cloth, extra batteries and memory cards and a mini flashlight. Traveling as light as possible as it was almost 100 degrees that day in the city.Feedback
Keep your eyes open and your camera on hand and ready!
