Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while on vacation through Glacier Bay in Alaska.

Time

I will never forget capturing this image at about 8 AM in the morning. I was in total awe of my surroundings. Alaska is an amazing place to visit.

Lighting

The way that the morning light was reflecting off of the snow covered mountains made the image much more pleasing to the eye.

Equipment

This shot was captured with my Nikon D610 and my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I have always wanted to visit Alaska and travel through Glacier Bay. I could not sleep for a month prior to arriving at this location. Everything fell into place when I finally got there.

Editing

The photo was post processed using Lightroom 5. All that was done was a minimal increase in clarity and lens correction.

In my camera bag

The equipment that I normally carry in my bag is a Nikon D610, Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8, Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII, Samyang 14mm f/2.8 Tripod, Wireless Shutter Release, Extra Batteries, and an assortment of filters. I must admit that I have now also gotten into drone photography and my DJI Phantom 3 professional also travels with me. The bag is starting to get much heavier but it's all worth it.

Feedback

I really enjoy the wonderful art of photography. For me it's the act of freezing a moment in time to enjoy for all eternity. I try to make every click of the shutter one that I can look back onto and remember that exact moment. My advice to other photographers is to always remember that click of the shutter.
