Location
This photo was taken during my holiday in France, i was near Valensole, in Provence region, and i saw this wonderful scenery.Time
I took this photo last 14 july, at the sunset. Maybe it was around 8.40 PM.Lighting
The light was beautiful as the sunset was a very vivid orange, so i took this photo with dark light on the sky, and bright light on lavender flowers. So i can see beautiful purple color and at the same time the color of sky, like fire!Equipment
This was shot on Nikon D750, with lens Nikkor 16-35 f4.0, without flash and i used a Manfrotto 055 xProb Tripod.Inspiration
I had planned a vacation in provence, because I knew july is the period of blossoming lavender. That evening I was driving near Valensole, and I saw many lavender fields...They were all very beautiful, but the field of this photo inspired me because above this there were many threatening clouds, and I thought the clouds would give fantastic colours at the sky during the sunset.Editing
Yes, because light conditions was very difficult, I took three photos, and i merged the raws with luminosity masks. After that I finely adjust lights and shadows, and white balance with photoshop tools. In my camera bag
I usually have only a DLSR (my Nikon D750), a wide angle zoom (16-35 f4), a normal lens (nikkor 50 1.4), and a 70-200 f2.8. I always have my tripod and sometimes my macro lens, a Sigma 105 f2.8Feedback
Certainly, for European citizens, this shoot is possible only in Provence and only in july, because in provence you can see most beautiful european lavender, moreover the full bloom is only in july. I recommend to go for sunrise or sunset, because the light is much more beautiful. You can use a wide angle lens or not, because with a long lens you can take some interesting details.
