Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a farm in Carinthia, Austria

Time

This photo was taken about 2 o´Clock am shortly bevor the lavender was cut.

Lighting

For this photo I only had to look that the lavender was in the sun. Because I wanted to make a bright "beauty shot" I did not took any shadows from the background into the picture

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon 7100 and the lens was the Nikon 70 - 200, 2,8

Inspiration

I was inspires by the bee that was picking up the nectar. This is the special "carnica" bee which is famous for its friendly behavior and productivity of honey. But this bee is vulnerable by a lot of environmental conditions so that makes it special to me. Beside this I like some interesting spots on my picture, some frozen moves or a little story like this: (the bee is collecting honey)

Editing

I did not mak a lot. I brightened the picture a little up and put the black down. After that I used a dark border, that was it!

In my camera bag

Now I have a new camera the Nikon 810. My lens are: Nikon 42 - 70, Nikon 70 - 200, Sigma 50mm. Nikon SB 910.

Feedback

Keep your eye open and react quickly. Try to include a unsharp foreground to give the bee a natural frame. For that picture I used a bigger focal length and lasts but not least, move yourself to eye level of the bee ;-)
