May is a good month to see the Milky Way during the night. Unfortunately, during the new moon days, there were not the ideal conditions in order to create this shot.
The days passed and moon began to shine again in the sky. I waited until the moon set during the night, to see the Milky Way without any problem.
In my cousin's company I headed to the Lighthouse Capo Murro di Porco. We scoured the land looking for a good composition to make the shots.
After a while we came to the conclusion that the human element was what we were looking for.

This shot was taken near a lighthouse called Capo Murro di Porco in Italy.Time
This shot was taken during the night. I waited until the milky way rised up a bit to have it just as I expected in the composition.Lighting
I made two similar shots here: with a head torch and the other without it. Yeah, the best picture is the one with the head torch because it adds something more to the image: as if one was searching for the Milky Way.Equipment
This shot was made with a Nikon D750, a Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 lens a remote shutter and of course a tripod.Inspiration
I've seen several images like this on the web and I was pretty curious to make something similar only to test it. Then I realized that this resulted not only a good test, but a perfect shot so I remained affascinated to it.Editing
Yes, I first processed my photos inside Lightroom, then I continued to process them in Photoshop. I started processing the sky, because it's the protagonist of the scene, then I added the layer of the ground and did the global processing. In my camera bag
In my bag I always carry with me my Nikon D750 and my favorite lens, the Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 together with my Manfrotto tripod. Then I also bring with me a lot of ND and GND filters and of course a Polarizer.Feedback
Before you head to a place to photograph the Milky Way, be sure you know the exact point where it will be visible. It will always rise South-East. Do not go when the moon is too bright in the sky, because then you will not be able to see Milky Way. Better to choose a night with the new moon. Go to the darkest place you know, because every nearby city will create light pollution. I recommend you to check a Dark Site Map (darksitefinder.com/map) where you can find the darkest site near you.
