Coyotes and ravens haggle over an elk carcass that is not their own. The first grizzly of spring made his appearance in very early March. He is the only mammal in Yellowstone able to haul the carcass of an unfortunate elk out of a small pond. The Elk had fallen in earlier, perished and froze there. Grizzly's bury their food and jealously protect it against would be scavengers. In this event the grizzly, facing a herd of bison, coyotes and people took a walk. In less than a second the 3 coyotes appeared with their attendant ravens. The Grizzly was back the next morning, sitting on his find.
