I left my heart in Moab, and I want to go find it. I solemnly watched the moon rise while breathing in the desert air, becoming consumed by this place. I had been traveling for 20+ hours, from upstate NY to the desert of Utah, this was the first location my friends had chosen to take me, and it was awesome. After spending an hour down below shooting up at this arch I decided to wander ahead to check it out and when I reached the window of this arch and saw the moon and felt the stuff wind funneling through it it was as if I'd been possessed by some lost desert soul, and it keeps pulling me back, my mind hs been constantly here, there in this place. In a place so dark you can see the Milky Way with your own eyes and almost see it move if you look hard and long enough. I wanted to embrace that feeling and that emotion and solidify it forever, as a reminder that I need to return to be normal again.

Location
This photo was taken in Arches National Park on the very first night of my very first visit. I may live there soon! That's how much I loved it!Time
This image was taken around 4:30am as the waning crescent moon rose!Lighting
Naturally lit by the moon!Equipment
I use my since upgraded Nikon D750, and 14-24!Inspiration
The rising moon and Milky Way fleeting in this incredible place.Editing
This was a single exposure, double processed to try and maintain natural color in both the moon light and Milky Way. I really wanted to emphasize the mood I was in when taking this self portrait. In my camera bag
I always have my dslr, which is now the all mighty D810, 14-24, a 50 1.8 prime, an 85 1.8 and a 70-200 telephoto, and always my Nisi and Lee filters, plenty of lens cloths and several remotes!Feedback
Let your vision and mood shine through, don't force it. Feel it.
