This was one of those spur of the moment shots... I had bought an off-camera cord for my flash, and was just randomly taking shots holding flash in hand and camera in the other. Guse just happened to be there, and so the moment was born!Time
I believe it was the late afternoon, but being a flash shot it didn't really influence the exposureLighting
It was a corded off-camera flash shot, hand held. I had a small soft diffuser attached to the flash to soften the light.Equipment
I used my Canon 60D, Kit lens and basic flash hand held off camera, attached via hot-shoe cordInspiration
I wish there was some deep meaningful inspiration behind this photo... but there really wasn't. A moment happened... a great capture appeared.Editing
Did a fair amount of cropping to really emphasize the composition. Other than converting to B&W, and some burning in... nothing spectacular in post-processing.In my camera bag
I had a Canon 60d with kit lenses, but have since moved up to a Canon 5D MkIII, with a Canon 70-200 f2.8 and Canon 24-70 f2.8.Feedback
The old advice "shoot, shoot, and shoot some more" applies here! There are times to plan shots, but sometimes the best are those spontaneous unexpected captures that just happen!
