Behind The Lens

Location

In my little village in Catllar , in the South of France i used to walk with my german sheperd Harrys and all the cats of the surrounding were greating him , he loved cats , they all loved him as well , this one Kiwi was very timid but was fascinated by Harrys so i could take pictures of him he did not even see me he looked at Harrys, now my dog is dead and i still walk in the village all the cat come and great me. They all let me me take pictures without any fears

Time

i walked with my dog in the morning around 6 am and when i came back in the village i used to take some photos ; the old water mill and the cats. this portrait of Kiwi was taken when we came back from a walk in the moutain , i will say around 9 'o clock

Lighting

the light in the morning is soft and most of my pictures are taken in the morning , i even prefer the winter light which in the South of Fance is very special ,all the painter used to come in the South for the colors shade given by the bright sun .

Equipment

the camera was DMC-L60

Inspiration

observing the cats i found out that they have expressions and i try to reproduce this in the photo. it is difficult because most of the time they move and the expression vanished but Kiwi was observing Harrys and i had the opportunity to take a portrait of him which showed his deep interest

Editing

In this picture there is no processing my pictures are most of the time raw , i want to be close to the truth ,either it is a good shot or it is not , i want to stick to the reality. i used sometimes some processing when i make a B&W then i try to play with the luminosity and contrast and sometimes the gama

In my camera bag

When doing photos with film , i used to have a Canon EOS 500 with Sigma 17- 35 mm 1:2.8-4 diameter 82 with a Hama PL circular M82(IV), 35mm 80mm; Sigma uc zoom 70mm-210 1:4_5.6 multi coated diameter 52 ; Canon zoom lens EF 35-80mm now i walk with a lighter equipment a lumix Panasonic DMC-TZ35 with a Leica lens DCvario-ELMAR1:3.3-6.4/4.3-86ASPH

Feedback

i found in some photos in gallery of friends that animals express their feelings some of them even smile (babies elephant) it is our duty to help the animal wild life by showing in our pictures their sentiments doing so we bridge the gap between them and us. If we want to investigate further this mater we must make portrait of animal and try to catch in a split second the sentiment, interest, fright,etc shown not easy but it is a challenge that we must undertake , i will say try, try, try and luck will be on your side . my English is more Franglais than anyting else so please feel free to do some editing to improve this writing
