l took this photo in spring during my stay in Ottawa, Canada. l am a self-taught photographer, it started off as a hobby to get me away from my room as l had depression and now l am passionate about it and wish to turn it to a career soon.Time
l had gone for a walk with my bestfriend/business partner Vanessa, it was the end of winter and being of spring. The temperatures had gone up and we were excited to take a walk at the famous Rideau Canal. It was around 6:45pm and the sun was setting, we had finished walking by the canal and this was our last stride before we arrive on the other side of the town. It was a random photo, l just thought hey the sunset is beautiful today and l took a photo quickly as we were both tired.Lighting
l wanted this photo to capture the real beauty of the sunset, l wanted to feature both the mystery darkness but also show the beauty in the light and the clouds. l had my camera set on silhouette, it seemed appropriate as the sun was directly facing us.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon P510, no additional lens.Inspiration
It was the beginning of spring and it was a warm day so l decided to go for a walk with my best friend on the famous Rideau canal. Having experienced winter for a long time l had not taken a lot of photos and l really wanted to practice more. l am always fascinated by silhouette and low key photography. Sunsets are perfect for this kind of shot.Editing
Yes l did some post-processing, l used the up MacPhun intensity to reduce the brightness and increased the shadows. Then l adjusted the structure and made the clouds more pronounced. In my camera bag
l am an amateur photographer, l do not have a lot of equipment l simply use my Nikon P510 camera and my iphone 4s.Feedback
if the environment is too bright and l want to capture every detail in the photo, l normally switch to silhouette, low key or lower the iso. This way l am able to capture every detail in the photo. Also hold your camera at the lower angle so you capture the clouds too as they add more vibrance to the photo especially if it is a sunset photograph.
