Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Toronto Zoo, believe it or not it was my first time operating my nikon coolpix, which was a Christmas gift from my dad, it is here that l discovered l am talented.

Time

i remember it was a Saturday around 2pm, we had spent the whole day exploring the zoo then we found these beauties near the manmade lake.

Lighting

To be honest l was not so much focused on the lighting, as l mentioned earlier at this time l was not into photography at all and l was more focused on just capturing memories. The lighting turned out great because of the reflection from the water and the afternoon sun.

Equipment

I simply used my Nikon CoolPix P510 on Manual setting, no flash.

Inspiration

I was inspired by how the birds the birds were standing, the composition of the photo from this specific angle was very eye-catching. Also the fact that they are the same birds but they are all doing something different, its very visually pleasing and artistic, each time you can look at a different bird and experience/see something different.

Editing

I fixed (reduced) the contrast and the highlight on Iphoto software on my Macbook.

In my camera bag

I still have not built my kit as l am a beginner/amateur photographer. At the moment l carry my Nikon D7500 and 18mm lens, before that l used to carry my Nikon CoolPix P510 only.

Feedback

From the perspective of someone who has not learnt any professional photography and is doing this out of love and passion for photography; l would say just follow your heart and go with the flow. You see something that you like, capture it from various angles until you find your niche, that is how l started and if you look at my portfolio you'll notice immense progress.
