Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Nova Scotia, Peggy's Cove area, on quite a cold and blustery day.

Time

I was in Halifax for a few days after attending my stepdaughter's University Graduation. Took a day trip to visit Peggy's Cove and passed this little fishing village on route, just loved how the buildings were built right on the water and the rocks. The different textures, between the wood, the rocks and mosses, were amazing. I believe the photo was shot around 3.30 pm.

Lighting

There were wonderful stormy clouds which I felt added some drama to the scene.

Equipment

I shot this photo using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi hand held, f25 1/125 at iso 400.

Inspiration

The whole area of Peggy's Cove was so different to where I stayed, in Aurora, Ontario.

Editing

I post processed in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

These days, due to sever arthritis in my hands, I carry a small lightweight Sony Cybersot.

Feedback

I think the Peggy's cove area is better shot, more dramatic, when there is a mix of blue skies and storm clouds. Really brings out the textures of the surrounding rocks and architecture of that area. However, do not go onto the dark/black rocks close to the lighthouse as it can be very dangerous in stormy conditions.
