Location
I took this photo in Santoña, Spain when on an exchange program. This small fishing village thrives on the fishing market, so I wanted to capture the essence of the town.Time
I took this photo on the first day that I got to Spain. I was groggy and jet lagged, but seeing this view left me wide eyed and in awe. It was a short five minute walk from my host house and I took it during low tide, after all the fisherman had come in for the day around late afternoon.Lighting
I wanted to show the vastness of Santoña, so I made sure that the light was bright towards the foreground with the boats, yet still illuminated the background with the city. This shows the juxtaposition of the bustling city life compared to the more lax life of a fisherman.Equipment
Ironically, I just used my iPhone5 to take this... I did not have any other equipment on me, and there was no way that I was going to miss the opportunity for this shot.Inspiration
Being one of the first scenes that I was exposed to in Spain, I was just really blown away. I thought that it shares a lot about the lifestyle and values of the kind people that live here.Editing
I used an editing application, only to enhance the focus and highlighting. In my camera bag
On the average day, I am a student, so I always have my (a little less than high tech) iPhone handy to snap a quick picture.Feedback
I think the biggest thing for me was the feeling that I got right before taking the picture. Sure, there are a million different scenic pictures that can be taken, but the difference is the emotions and feelings that your specific scene is able to evoke.
