Location
The photo was taken in my kitchen over the sink. I was experimenting with high speed flash photography for the first time.Time
It was mid afternoon with all curtains closed and lights off so that the light in the photo could be generated by the flashes.Lighting
I wanted to freeze the action with 2 speedlights therefore the photos had to be shot in the dark. I had to manually pre-focus the shot and then turn the lights off.Equipment
This was shot with a canon 1DX; tripod; 70-200mm f2.8; 2 canon speedlights with radio triggers.Inspiration
I was always fascinated with splash photos and wanted to see if I could obtain satisfactory results on my own. The experience was fun but getting the timing right was tricky as I was dropping strawberries with one hand and using the flash/camera trigger in the other.Editing
Post processing primarily consisted of cropping as well as cleaning up the background by lowering the exposure. In my camera bag
I usually carry my canon 1DX with the canon 70-200 F2.8 USM II attached. I also bring a canon 35mm f1.8 and a canon 24-105mm so I'm covered for most shooting situations. Also, If I'm planning to shoot indoors, I may carry a speedlight with a Gary Fong diffuser.Feedback
Have patience and a mop handy, use filtered water so there are fewer air bubbles showing on the glass, make sure the glass is clean (no fingerprints) and cover your flashes with see through plastic bags so they don't get wet.
