Location
The photo was taken at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Music Festival. This performance was one of many where indigenous people from all over came to share their talents.Time
It was early afternoon, in a hot and humid New Orleans summer day. I felt for the dancers, having to wear their very heavy and hot costumes.Lighting
Worst time of the day to take outdoor photographs. Blazing sun, lots of glare.Equipment
I used my Nikon D810, handheld, with my Tamron 28-300mm lens, as well as a circular polarizer filter.Inspiration
I was walking from a stage where a performance was held to another stage at the opposite end of the festival. The drumming and singing caught my attention, and happily, I was given many a great photo-op. I find Native American dancing a moving experience.Editing
I did a little color balancing and exposure manipulation. I faded the background a bit.In my camera bag
Nikon D810, Tamron 28-300mm, Tamron 24-70mm, filters, Nikon SB-900 flashgun, Flashpoint Carbon Fiber Tripod, Wireless Shutter control, Lens cleaning supplies.Feedback
Set your shutter speed high so that you can freeze action and shoot often.
