Behind The Lens

Location

This is a composite of multiple photos. Most of them were taken around Lowell, Ma, and some are from a local fire-spinning group in Ma.

Time

The base photos were taken in the early to mid-afternoon. Fire photos were taken at night.

Lighting

All photos use natural lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with my Nikon D3100 and the base lens.

Inspiration

This was from when I was first learning photography techniques. I was teaching myself, and participating in online communities to get tips and advice. I learned how to composite and thought about a recent shoot with my friend in steampunk gear and needed to try. This was my second attempt at a composite, and the first with more than 3 photos.

Editing

I used a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop to make this. I process all my photos in Lightroom. Then I will import the processed photos into Photoshop to manipulate.

In my camera bag

Camera, base lens, telephoto lens, portrait lens, backup battery & SD cards, tiny aluminum tripod unless I know I'm planning to use a tripod, then I'll bring a more sturdy one, chapstick, water.

Feedback

Play. See what happens if you mix this and that. Be curious and experiment.
