This particular day was so cold.
The wind was heavy and the only way to walk was backwards, as snow was completely blinding my site.
Sneaky little snowflakes crawled into my clothes, my camera and my eyes and slowly but surely literally everything was covered with a thick, white layer of snow.
My camera became so cold and wet that it became uncontrollable and so did my fingers.
And yet -at that moment- I wasn't aware of any cold or discomfort.
There I was, lying in the snow, with a gorgeous fox in front of me that was just sitting there as if she didn't care about the snow at all .And how could I complain, witnessing a smiling fox bravely defying in a snow storm...?

Location
This photo was taken in one of my favorite places; the coastal area of the Netherlands. I was born at the coast. My parents moved to another city and I have to go back, just to be near the sea ;)Time
From sunrise to sunset.Lighting
For as long as I can remember, I was fascinated by foxes, but as they don't live where I do, I never saw one. On a winter day, I decided to go try my luck. The entire country seemed to be covered with a layer of snow, so today was the day I wanted to make a dream come true; photographing a fox. And preferably a fox in the snow. When I arrived, it looked like a sunny spring day. I had entered the warmer part of our country and there was no flake to be seen. But no complains... it was a good day for a nice walk. And then, after a few hours, the sky turned suddenly dark grey and it started to snow like there was no tomorrow. i couldn't even see where I was walking as the blizzard blinded my sight. Sneaky little snow flakes made my body get colder and colder and I was wondering if I shouldn't leave, as the paths were quickly disappearing as well.... And then, out of now where.....a fox showed up..... I was so excited a almost forgot to press the shutter... fortunately I somehow did!Equipment

I personally think the best way to spice up a beautiful pristine white canvas is by adding atouch of red. The red of red fox fur to be more precize. The most beautiful colour combination ever.Editing
This photo didn't require much post processing.....it came out a little darker, as the bright snow tends to fool your light meter. (which I know now, but I wasn't very experienced with snow photography back then)In my camera bag
Nowadays a Canon 5D MK III and a Canon 100-400 IS USM IIFeedback
In cold circumstances it's important to take care for your camera (with camera protection), but also for yourself. You can easily become hypothermic, so make sure you are well protected against frost and humid...
