Location
This image is a popular place for many local photographers on the sunshine coast , Australia.Time
When ever i think of this image it reminds me that perseverance pays off. It was take just before sunrise , the mosquitoes were in plague proportions and the water i was standing in was freezing.Lighting
I must have shot this place dozens of times. That's the brilliant thing about photography. you can can shoot one place many many times and get different lighting effects. Long exposures at sunrise with filters has become a fun point of creativity for me.Equipment
This image was shot with a Nikon d810 , manfrotto tripod , Nikon 14-24 f2.8 lens and Lee filters.Inspiration
Photography groups can really help you find your feet when your first starting out. i must have passed this tree dozens of times. it was the group that encouraged me to see things differently. Now its second nature to see photographic opportunities. This image i guess was inspired by my new vision in seeing what some others do not.Editing
I lightened the shadows slightly and removed the odd dust spot (inevitable when working beside the sea , being chased by a swarm of mosquitoes and operating with a filter with large dimensions. In my camera bag
I'm primarily a landscape photographer so my first lens in my bag is my 14-24 f2.8. Secondly i love shooting wild life. so my next would be my 200-500mm f5.6. its an odd combination but it works for me. im blessed with living beside the sea. so seeing breathtaking scenery mixed with captivating birds of prey makes for an adaptive photographic kit. lens cloths/wipes are a given (never can have to many).Feedback
I guess all i can say to anyone wanting to capture a similar image is to give the same advice as my group did. If you ever see something that clearly stands out but you don't quite know why, then shoot it. chances are your not viewing it from the right angle or the right time of the day to see the best results.
