The coyote is native to North America and has been spotted in Mexico and Central America. The wilderness has decreased as a result of urbanization resulting with the coyotes encountering humans ,domestic pets and live stock. Many of these coyotes are seeking water and food in these urban areas as a result of drought conditions. This animal was spotted at 6:30 pm in the August in daylight . Most of this pack is found out at night.. Notice the natural camouflage of its coat in the dry foliage.

Location
USA Pacific Palisades ,Southern California .Location is "Los Liones Drive " just up from the trail head. 580 Los Liones Drive ,Pacific Palisades California. This location is a wonderful location for nature and wild life photos. The light is extrodinary! Interesting fact is in 1913 one of the biggest film studios was Inceville that was run by Thomas Ince .This is the location. Films included Old West Movies etc.Nothing is left of the studio at the site. Also the Thomas Ince story is captivating .Good read! This photo was taken from the California State Park parking lot looking at one of the trails.Time
The Photo was taken at 6:37pm.The "magic hour "for light and wildlife.Lighting
I love the " magic hour' light because it adds life to an image.Equipment
This was taken with Camera- Canon 60D. Lens -Sigma DG150-500ML at about 500ML.It was the first time that I shot with this new lens.I love this camera and I love the lens.I have won many contests with this equipment! I also shoot with a Canon 7D Mark2 with this lens -Excellent! I often shoot hand held with this Sigma lens for Canon Cameras .Wonderful!!! This photo was shot from my car using a window as a tripod . The car was used as a blind with the help of the strong lens as to not disturb the coyote.Inspiration
I went to this location to take action wildlife and nature photos with my new Sigma lens to see how the lens performed and hopefully get an inspiring photo at the " magic hour".I get inspiration from comments and awards that I have received on the Viewbug site. I also am inspired by Joel Sartore who is dedicating his work to photograph every species. The coyote is an endangered animal because of deforestation , warming climate, and wild fires. It is a honor to capture this wild animal . Learning techniques through books and online classes and the Viewbug community comments as well as Viewbug 's editors notes inspire me to improve my skills and evolves how I view nature photography. Thank you for your feedback!Editing
I did a little post- pocessing. In the program Lightroom 4. I used dodging around the coyote that was camouflaged .The dodging brought up the animal adding to the composition. In my camera bag
I like to travel light! I normally try to evaluate my day taking a camera and two lens and a lens cloth in my bag. I have had a tripod but I love to shoot hand held because of the freedom.Feedback
Advise for other photographer: Research the location and the light when planning a photographic project. Stay aware of what is going on around you for the moment that presents itself and remember stay in the moment. I always ask the two questions 1. What is the story? 2. What moment will reflect the action? Most important is to have fun and photograph what you find interesting. I am looking forward to seeing your future posts.
