In this picture you can see my father's violin. It's in my home since 1930. I shot this photo in my home, It is a light paint experiment. I put the violin on the floor against the wall (they're both covered in wood)Time
It was late in the evening may be about eight p.m. in February. I do not have dark room so I needed to wait until the sun was bwelow the orizon. Here in Italy In February there is very little sunlight and I needed darkness to shoot this photo. Of course if you have a dark room time is not important.Lighting
The light was the main theme of the shoot. there is no light ;) I used a Maglite flashlight to light the violin while the camera was set in B pose and f/32 frame. I tried two o three shoot lighting from various point and different time. I lighted this one at 45° degrees covering all the violin in about 1 minuteEquipment
I used a CANON EOS 60 D mounted on a Gorilla POD tripod (it's a low tripod) and a 28- 75 TAMRON lensInspiration
I saw some photos made using this technique and I was wondering if I could take a good shootEditing
No post production was appliedIn my camera bag
I am an Photo amateur. I usually take with me my canon EOS 60D and my Tamron lens. Recently I bougth a Canon 24-70 IS USM L. When I go on holiday I always take with me my CANON 75-300 mm f/4-5.5. I also own a great CANON 50mm f/1.8 to shoot profile.Feedback
If you like this technique you will need: a dark room, a flashlight, a tripod, and a lot of patience.Put you camera on the tripod set your focus and your compo, Close your frame and turn off the light. Now you are ready to start to paint using the light. if you need some light to see where are you putting your feet, use a week red light. Open the shutter and Turn on your flashlight (lighting the subject of course). When you are don close the shutter and look at your opera. There is a lot of good manual on internet. I hope you enjoyed this experience. Good luck and good LIGHT
