This photo was taken in London, in the 2016 holidays.Time
As the Big Ben shows, it was about 5:15 pmLighting
I'd like to use the existing light even when it's dark. It's not about trying to be realistic, but capture the feeling, the soul of the moment, and the soul of the photography is in the light.Equipment
I try to take the best with the less. Normally just my Canon 6D with a 24-105mm lens, and that's what I was carring that day.Inspiration
That day, the Christmas eve, I was walking alone in the cold of the London winter, after a rainy day and with a great moon that apeared behind the clouds. It's was one of those moments where you make a point of your life, despite all the people that sourround you in a great city, your alone with your thoughts. One of the ideas that I was carring in my head was exactly the relation of images taken with reality. As I found the reflex of the Big Ben in a puddle I decided to use it as a question about it, then I started to analyse the possibilities of composition. I saw the moon above the roof as a lamppost on the head of the statue and waited to make another "reflex" on the scene. After some missed shots and 1 hour waintig for the right moment where someone passes alone in the right position, I finally got this one.Editing
Just basic post-process. In this case, I just turned it into black and white and adjusted the parts that I found extremely sub exposed. In my camera bag
My Canon 6D and lenses 50mm f/ 1.8 and 24-105mm f/4. Sometimes I take my old Nikon F2 with a 36 poses TX 400 film and a 50mm f/ 1.2 lens for a ride.Feedback
For this case, I was more worried about the lights than the shadows. I tried to not miss the sharpness of the reflex in the puddle, then in the post process I lighted a little the parts that I found too dark. To conclude, just go to the streets and practice the more and the best you can, in every kind of weather, with the hardware that you think that is really essential. ps: sorry if somethig wasn't clear, my English isn't very good, hahaha...
