This photo was taken at Niagara Falls in Canada. I am a hobbyist photographer who likes to practice taking pictures from different categories. I thought the framing of the boat and waterfall would make a good landscape/nature picture.Time
I believe this photo was taken near sunset in the summertime. I went to the outer edges of the park where both the falls and the boat could be captured.Lighting
For lighting, I waited until close to sunset to get some more diffuse lighting.Equipment
I used a Canon T3+kit lens and a tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to take a picture that made a boat look as though it's on a perilous journey headed straight into a wave. The waterfall and the Maid of the Mist happened to be positioned in that way.Editing
For post-processing, I used Lightroom. I added some contrast, increased the highlights to make the picture look a bit more mysterious, and sharpened the picture up a bit.In my camera bag
Equipment I normally have in my bag is my Canon T3, kit lens, and a 50 mm prime. I also have some flashes that I bring out from time to time.Feedback
Get to the falls in the early morning or near sunset. During midday the lighting is too harsh on the falls and things become blown out. Try to shoot the picture at a range of f/8-f/11 depending on your camera. Make sure to bring a tripod and shoot at ISO-100.
