Behind The Lens

Location

This is called the Cypress Wetlands located in the Low Country, Port Royal South Carolina and if you blink your eyes when driving thru town you will miss the town.

Time

Generally around second week of March the birds start moving back in and building their nest and mating so my 4 legged wonder and I will head out around 8 in the morning and will stay for two to three hours.

Lighting

This shot was taken around 8 in the morning and we had just a nice shower right at sunrise and we were able to capture the sun shining thru the clouds and the early morning dampness just pulled all the natural colors out.

Equipment

I had just purchased Canon EOS-70D 20.2 MP Digital Camera W/ Canon 18-135mm IS Lens, set at ISO of 100, fstop f-8, did not use any other equipment but to say the least I fell down the steps their two weeks later and completely destroyed this camera.

Inspiration

I had to stop and let the bike riders around me and I just happen to pay attention to all the assorted colors the sun shining and it was drop dead awesome looking to me.

Editing

Once I pulled the picture up on my computer I sharpened it just a hair but the colors are all natural.

In my camera bag

Truthfully it is very rare that I carry my bag with me I grab a lens and take off.

Feedback

When I look into the view finder I want to capture a shot that will hold its appeal for years, I look for the early morning shots that seem to be the best lightening around, I really do not care for using a flash. This is more than just a hobby for me as I have PTSD and I use my camera and the early morning light to help with my stressor it is therapy for me. I believe if it looks and feels good take the shot.
