Behind The Lens

Location

This is Multnomah Falls along the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. Beautiful location anytime of the year.

Time

This was taken midday, and not in ideal conditions as the sun was shining quite bright. But it helped create the mood I was going for with the sunlight shining down on the trees to the left illuminating them.

Lighting

It was midday and the sun was pretty darn bright that day, not the most ideal condition at this location as it can create horrible sun flares. But the lighting proved to be in a great spot to highlight the trees past the bridge on the right giving them a great glow.

Equipment

This image is a panorama I took with my older D7100 Nikon with my Nikon 20mm. It was 3 images stitched together. Settings were: 1/60 f 14 ISO 640. ISO was a bit high even though the sun was out to accommodate the lower part of the falls that were dark.

Inspiration

Who doesn't want a picture of Multnomah Falls!

Editing

I stitched the 3 separate images together using Photoshop.

In my camera bag

Oh my I have a lot of gear in my bag. You just never know what you will come across and want to photography. The main items are: Nikon D600, Nikon 50mm, Tamron 150-600mm, Rokinon 14mm, Tokina 11-16mm, Minolta 58mm with nikon adapter (completely manual), head lamps for light painting, extra batteries for my camera, wireless intervalometer remote, step up adapter rings for filters, ND Grad Filters square, 10 ND filter, polarizer filters, lens cleaning clothes (Lots), 90 degree eyepiece attachment, Vixen Polarie Star Tracker and mount.

Feedback

For this location, try for a cloudy day, it will help with the sun glare, and be prepared to have a rag with you. You will need to wipe your lens between every shot.
