Has such an eerie, spooky, but mystic feel to this, that it makes me want to check it out! Great capture! Congratulations on winning the Challenge!

This is an inspired composition and capture. The colors and contrast are striking. I like the way this composition conveys a sense of depth.

Many thanks, Jim. I wanted to convey the great age of my surroundings (his abbey was founded in the eighth century), and I thought a window onto the dying embers of the day somehow said it all.

This is a superbly-executed image. The sunset adds a colorful (and effective) contrast with the right-side-of-the-histogram earth tone ruins.

Many thanks, Suz. I'm glad you like this image, and also that you enjoyed your short stay in Whitby. Fear not, my friend, people rarely visit Whitby only once - you'll return, I'm certain of that. When you do, be sure to check out the Pie & Mash Cafe at the 'old town' end of the harbour swing bridge (a fantastic home made pie with a dollop of mash for a fiver!!).
