My wife got me a new Nikon D5200 camera body and a new Nikkor 50 mm prime lense for Christmas. Been playing with both trying to get used to them. So our Yorkie, Brownie, has had to endure many pictures over the last few days.

Location
This photo was actually taken in a hotel room last year when I was visiting my father that was in the hospital. Our Yorkie, Brownie, doesn't sit still very long so I took every picture that I could while she was resting.Time
It was in the middle of the afternoon.Lighting
I just used the lighting that was available in the hotel room with the curtains closed.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5200 body with my Nikor 50mm prime lense. I used only the light that was available in the room. I rarely use a flash. I like trying to catch the natural lighting that is available.Inspiration
I love taking pictures of our Yorkie and she was resting perfectly at the time so I could catch a few shots of her.Editing
I typically only do light to moderate post processing with Lightroom. I honestly don't remember exactly what all I did with this photo, but it was most likely just some sharpening and noise reduction. In my camera bag
I always carry extra batteries and memory cards. The rest depends on what my plans are. A mainstay in my bag is an extra camera body and a range of lenses all the way from macro to wide angle lenses and from 18mm up to 300mm. Of course, lenses cleaners and my tripod too.Feedback
Just be ready to capture the moment. Moments like this come and go before you know it. I am an ametuer photographer and I only do it as a hobby. I don't use any special lighting and I typically don't stage my photos. I enjoy "capturing the moment". Have fun most of all!
