Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in a park near where I was living. Behind the play ground there is this beautiful trail that leads you through these big pine trees. When the snow is falling it looks like a winter wonderland.Time
I took this beautiful photo mid afternoon when it had just stopped snowing. It was a very cold winter day, and both the model and I were bundled up in layers upon layers of clothing.Lighting
Because it had just snowed, the clouds helped prevent over exposure and give a nice natural lighting for us in the woods. I love photographing models on cloudy days so that I don't need to worry about the high exposure from the sun.Equipment
I used my Nikon D5200 with my 18-55mm lens. No flash or tripod was used.Inspiration
I have always loved seeing photos of these models wearing giant furry jackets. I was contacted by a lady that had also loved those types of portraits. We met up and took some beautiful shots. I have to edits of this photograph. This one I decided to enhance her eyes and make them look more enchanting; magical if you will. The other edit is more of a traditional portrait, no extra enhancing was done.Editing
I have to edits of this photograph. This one I decided to enhance her eyes and make them look more enchanting; magical if you will. The other edit is more of a traditional portrait, no extra enhancing was done. I wanted to play around with her eyes to make the photo more unique and different from other similar photos. I enjoyed tinkering around and seeing what worked and what didn't work. The post-processing software I use is Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
I carry around my Nikon D5200 and both of my lens because I like to flip flop between the two of them. I have an 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lens. I also make sure I have my battery charger and extra SD cards just in case I fill one up unexpectedly.Feedback
Play around with the lighting, the later in the day would be interesting to work with. It would give a darker and more mysterious look to the photo. Working with the cloudy day was very nice and made the shoot go by pretty quick. Getting that right angle is important as well, not being too high up or to low to the ground but a full straight on or off to the side makes this type of portrait beautiful and elegant.
